Katy Perry and five other celebrities launched to space Monday morning on a short flight aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket and capsule. Joining Perry as part of the all-female crew was Gayle King, co-host of “CBS Mornings”; Lauren Sánchez, a former journalist who is Jeff Bezos’ fiancée; Aisha Bowe, a former NASA rocket scientist; Amanda Nguyen, a bioastronautics research scientist; and Kerianne Flynn, a movie producer. Liftoff took place at 9:30 a.m. ET from Blue Origin’s launch site in Van Horn, Texas.

Leslie Odom Jr., one of the original cast members of the mega-hit Broadway musical “Hamilton,” is coming back for another shot, a role he says “gave me life.” Odom, who played Aaron Burr opposite Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Alexander Hamilton, will return to his Tony Award-winning role at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Sept. 9 through Nov. 23. “I was born on the stage of the Richard Rodgers in so many ways. It gave me life in a way,” he tells The Associated Press. “I’m really looking forward to it.” |

Katy Perry is set to shoot across the sky with Gayle King, Lauren Sánchez and more stars in Blue Origin’s historic all-women rocket launch. On Monday, April 14, a group of celebrities will have the opportunity to gain a different perspective of Earth when they board the space technology company’s 11th human flight, called NS-31, according to its website. “I’m talking to myself every day and going, ‘You’re brave. You’re bold. You’re doing this to inspire so many different people, but especially young girls,” Perry told The Associated Press during her rehearsal before official training for the New Shepard mission began. |

Menendez brothers' family blames graphic photo shown in court for aunt's hospitalization |

The aunt of Erik and Lyle Menendez, who is the sister of the men’s father, was hospitalized after a graphic image of her brother’s body was shown in court on Friday, according to family. Terry Baralt, 85, is in critical condition after seeing the image in the brothers’ latest court appearance, according to the Justice for Erik and Lyle Coalition, which is a family-led effort calling for the release of the two brothers. “In open court, and without any prior warning, prosecutors displayed an unredacted, graphic image of José Menendez’s lifeless body – an act that retraumatized family members in attendance,” a statement by the coalition read.
